Birders’ Exchange provides Jamaican bird researcher his first pair of binoculars!

Ricardo Miller – an outstanding young ornithologist in Jamaica, is a member of the Society for the Conservation and Study of Caribbean Birds (SCSCB) Board of Directors. Ricardo works for the National Environmental Planning Agency in Jamaica and is an avid birder and photographer and does excellent ornithological work in Jamaica on his own time and through his job. He has attended one of the SCSCB’s bird monitoring workshops and will be responsible for coordinating the new Caribbean Waterbird Census (CWC) in Jamaica (he also conducts counts of pigeons and doves). Ricardo went to the Western Hemisphere Migratory Species Initiative (WHSMI) conference in Miami and helped facilitate a one-day training workshop on the CWC. He did not own his own binoculars and was so happy to receive these from Birders’ Exchange.
