In 2003 Luís Fábio Silveira received his PhD in Biological Sciences (Zoology), from the University of São Paulo. He is a Professor in the Department of Zoology, Associate Curator of the ornithological collections of the Museum of Zoology, Researcher Level 2 and the Chief Editor of the Journal of Ornithology. Luis is is also a member of the Brazilian Committee of Ornithological Records (CBRO) and Associate Researcher of the World Pheasant Association (UK). He has published 45 scientific articles in refereed journals (six more in press), has ten published books, 56 book chapters and 66 presentations at conferences in Brazil and abroad. abroad. He has received ten awards or honors for work or projects developed in partnership with other colleagues. He serves as ad hoc adviser to state and national funding agencies, and to 32 scientific journals in Brazil and abroad. He has worked with nine student guides, including Graduate, Masters and PhD candidates, and teaches in collaboration with colleagues, two disciplines at the undergraduate and graduate level. Currently Luis coordinates eight research projects primarily involved in systematics, taxonomy and the conservation of birds.
