Site of the Young Birder Conference

The Ashland Nature Center is located near Hockessin, DE and serves as the Delaware Nature Society's headquarters and the hub for all of its activities of nature education and natural resource conservation. The site features an overnight lodge for groups, a seasonal butterfly house, picnic area and four self-guided trails through a variety of habitats. The property includes more than 242 acres in the Piedmont, rich in wildlife diversity. Ashland is also home to the Ashland Hawk Watch, a joint partnership between the Delaware Nature Society and the Delmarva Ornithological Society, where over 14,000 migrating raptors are witnessed passing overhead between September 1 and November 30.

ACCOMMODATIONS

On-site accommodations will be available for Friday, September 21st at the Ashland Lodge, starting at 6:00, featuring:

  • Two beautiful cabin-like dormitories with bunk beds, accommodating up to 72 people
  • Great Room with fireplace, TV, DVD/VCR, seating for 80
  • Panoramic view
  • Restrooms with showers
  • Modern kitchen, all appliances and cooking/eating utensils provided
  • Electrical generator to ensure comfort and safety

RATES: Young Birder - $30.00, Adult - $40.00
