Tim Hochstetler has been birding for more than 25 years, starting when he was a youngster. In earlier years, Tim did most of his birding near home; but as more and more people became interested in birding, it was possible to travel further away from home. This eventually led to birding trips to Texas, Arizona, Florida, and California.
Tim annually takes part in at least three Christmas Bird Counts, Breeding Bird Surveys, Big Days in May, and both spring and fall hawk-watching. Tim has especially been interested in the raptor migration studies being done by a group of local birders. This includes spring watches near home and in northeast Ohio at Conneaut. In the fall, the watch is near Toledo in northwest Ohio. Tim keeps a farm list of birds seen from home.
Tim works for Carlisle Printing in Walnut Creek, Ohio, publisher of both the local birding journal, The Bobolink, and the Ohio Cardinal (state birding organization). He bikes back and forth to work all year around.
